God’s Spokesmen

The careful Bible student observes that God gives His message to a spokesman (Hebrews 11:1, 2 Peter 1:21, Jeremiah 1:5, Galatians 1:15-16). The spokesman, in turn, gives God’s message faithfully to the people (Jeremiah 23:28). God requires the people to listen to the spokesman (2 Tim. 2:7, Phil. 4:9). God has chosen a spokesman for each time period to bring His message to the intended people. We have to understand that God spoke progressively, not at all once, He gives the information in a piece meal (Hebrews 1:1). A spokesman during one period does not necessarily carry God’s entire message for any other time period. Thus, following the wrong spokesman during any time period is missing the instructions and the will of God for him.

1. The message to Adam – Dominion on the Earth (not heaven?) – Gen 1:28

2. The message to Noah – Dominion on the Earth and a covenant – Gen 9:1, 9:9-11

• We learn that God will judge sin, and that God changes how he operates with us.

3. The message to Abraham – Promises of a great nation over the Earth – Gen 12:1-3

• God promised Abraham a land, a seed, and a blessing on the Earth – Gen 15:18

• God added circumcision to the deal: it was required – Gen 17:14

4. The message to Moses – Israel, God’s firstborn, as a peculiar treasure on Earth – Exo 4:22

• There is now an added requirement … law covenant, if then – Exodus 19:5

• kingdom of priests, washed with water, sprinkled with blood – Lev 8:6-10, 18:5

5. The message to David – An everlasting King in Israel on David’s throne on the earth

• A promised kingdom, and king – 2 Samuel 7:12-13, 16 ; Psa 89:18, 26-37

6. The message to the Prophets – God keeps his covenants, Repent!

• The Lord’s wrath is coming against sin – Isa 13:9

• Repent, and turn from your sins! – Eze 18:29-32

• God requires a humble walk – Micah 6:8

7. The message to John the Baptist + water baptism, the king and his dominion is coming

• Water of repentance for remission of sins – Mat 3:2, John 1:31-34, Mark 1:2-4

8. The message of Jesus + adds belief in his name as the Son of God

• Same gospel PLUS … Mark 1:14-15 + belief in the name – John 3:18

• They must confess the name of Jesus before men – Mt 10:32 vs. John 12:42

• We learn the principle of transition – Jesus must increase … – John 3:26, 30,

• He that believes on me shall do greater works than me – John 14:12

9. The message of Peter/Twelve + adds Messianic resurrection and the Holy Spirit.

• Resurrected, he is Lord!, Repent! Acts 2:14, 16, 32, 36, 38

• Their sins will be blotted out when Christ returns in judgment … Acts 3:19-21

• Kingdom was close, it was offered… Stephen stoned – Acts 6:15, 7:58

• The Twelve wrote about the kingdom – Peter, James, John, Jude, Rev – Acts 8:1-4

10. The message to Paul. Saul slaughters – Acts 9:1-3, Paul preaches 9:15, 20

• He sent Paul far unto the Gentiles with SALVATION – Acts 22:21

• He began to say things such as “dispensation of the gospel” – 1 Cor 9:17

• His gospel was kept a secret since the foundation of the world – Rom 16:25

• Apostle to Gentiles–Rom 11:13, To him that worketh not but believeth – Rom 4:5

• Mystery of Christ to Gentiles – Eph 3:1-6, 3:9

11. The message of the Witnesses and The Angel (Rev. 7, 14, 11)

• To perform signs, wonder, and miracles during tribulation period.

• To preach the Gospel of the Kingdom to the whole world (Matthew 24:13-14)

• To preach the Everlasting Gospel (Rev. 14:6-7)
